Code Heroes’ Developed Queensland Digital Licence App Wins Two Top Awards at 2025 Australian Access Awards
A Double Win for Code Heroes’ Developed Queensland Digital Licence at the 2025 Australian Access Awards
The 2025 Australian Access Awards provided not one but two reasons to celebrate for Code Heroes this year. An app we developed in partnership with Thales and the Queensland Government made a big splash at the ceremony, achieving an exciting double win.
The Queensland Digital Licence app secured the Government App of the Year award for 2025 and was also named the overall App of the Year at this year’s event.
The Australian Access Awards
The Awards is hosted by the Centre for Accessibility (CFA) Australia, which is a not-for-profit initiative designed to promote effective digital access across the country. The digital revolution has made life and work much easier for many Australians, but CFA Australia is concerned that some may be left behind by the rapid pace of progress.
With this in mind, they launched the not-for-profit to “create a more inclusive world” and “reduce the accessibility gap.” Their bi-annual award ceremony recognises excellence in achieving both of these aims.
A Double Nomination and a Double Win
We’d already had great feedback on the Queensland Digital Licence app project, but it’s always nice to gain further external recognition too. This is why the double win is such a huge deal for us here at Code Heroes.
Securing the Government App of the Year award shows that the Queensland Digital Licence is achieving exactly what it set out to do. This was designed as an app that will help users store their identification documentation and licensing information securely and conveniently on their mobile devices.
It is intended to reduce the reliance on physical cards and make sure all licensing data is complete and up-to-date. Of course, this service must be available to every potential user, regardless of their age group, ability level, or background. The Government App of the Year award proves that our team and our partners were able to make a real difference for all people around Queensland.
Achieving the App of the Year award is yet another sign of a “job well done.” It shows that the app is highly user-friendly and easily accessible for people across the state. Given the strength of the field in this category, receiving the overall award is a major achievement for everyone involved.
A Big Shout-Out for Our Team
Of course, we’re immensely proud of these awards. But we need to take a moment to recognise the sterling work of our fantastic team on this project. These awards simply wouldn’t have been possible without the care, commitment, and hard work of everyone we have on board here at Code Heroes.
Our team rose to every challenge during the development of this app, turning tricky problems and obstacles into opportunities to improve. They listened to feedback, adapted the app for the needs of the end user, and achieved something very special with the final product.
In short, this is more than “just an app.” It’s something that makes a genuine difference in the lives of Queenslanders.
So as the year draws to a close, we want to say thank you once again to our excellent team. We look forward to another 12 months of development wizardry and user-centric excellence in 2026, and to continuing work on projects that deliver real value for the people who use them.
